Artist Philosophy

Life has carried me through many landscapes. I have lived in the eclectic neighborhoods of Chicago, the rugged high desert of California, the serene beauty of Monterey, California, the communities of Northern Virginia, and abroad in San Salvador, El Salvador; Asunción, Paraguay; and soon Madrid, Spain. Each place has changed me and strengthened my artistic vision.

Painting has become my constant in a highly mobile life. Over the years, moving often has taught me to pay attention to color, texture, memory, and the small details that make any space feel like home. I approach my studio with professional craft and classical oil techniques, while also building a career through the adaptable, modern structure of KCL Studio.

My paintings are invitations. They are my way of sharing what I have learned to notice so that you might recognize the beauty in your own surroundings. I create work for the modern collector who wants to live with color, joy, and reflection.

“Often as we walk through life, we miss many of the small details around us. My goal with my artwork is to make you stop, think, and recognize the beauty in both the mundane and the overtly beautiful.” —Krista Litz

Wherever you live, whatever season you are in, my hope is that my art reminds you to pause, breathe, and truly see.

Every piece created through KCLstudio is grounded in classical oil painting techniques and a respect for craftsmanship. I work with professional grade materials archival supports and a slow, layered process that allows floor, depth, subtle detail to fully develop over time.

My paintings are designed to live well in real spaces. Whether you are collecting an original work or a fine art giclee print, you can expect thoughtful composition, carful color harmony, and artwork made to last both materially and aesthetically.

Each piece is created with the intention that it will become part of your daily life: something quietly present, enduring, and personal rather than decorative or trend driven.

Available original and a small portion of fine art prints can be viewed in my shop and an extensive amount of prints are available on my Etsy site KCLstudio. New work is released regularly through KCLStudio and shared on instagram. If your looking for a specific size or format custom inquiries are welcome.
